About Year 5
Mrs Ijima, Miss Gibson and Miss Moston enjoy the support of Mrs Pollock, Mr Skilling and Ms. Berry in Year 5.
Year 5 has some very interesting topics like the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings or Earth and Space so it’s fun to teach. We enjoy some great trips, for example Tatton Park and the Museum of Science and Industry. We also have some wonderful school visitors, like the mobile Planetarium.

Meet your teachers
Mrs Ijima |
Hi, I'm Mrs Ijima. I have worked in Year 5 for many years and I love teaching here because of all the interesting topics we have which I look forward to exploring with you! Mr Skilling will be in class to help and support us. I am also one of the English Leaders for the school so if you have any ideas or feedback about the subject (reading, writing and spelling) or any other issues, please let me know. Being a teacher keeps me very busy but out-of-school I spend a lot of time at gyms and sporting activities with my children (and a bit for me!) and can often be spotted in parks at weekends. |
Miss Gibson |
Hi, I am Miss Gibson! I really enjoy teaching the Year 5 curriculum and the many interesting topics we cover: Anglo-Saxons and Vikings, Soup-making, Earth and Space, Forces and Weaving – just to name a few! I look forward to a year full of learning, teamwork and kindness. I am also the school’s Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO). I am keen to build strong working relationships with all parents, so please do not hesitate to contact me with any queries you have. |
Miss Moston |
Hi! I’m Miss Moston and I can’t wait to begin my journey at Great Moor Junior School, in year 5 in September. There are so many exciting topics and subjects across the year 5 curriculum and I look forward to exploring them all with you! I aim to promote a caring, safe and fun classroom environment where all pupils and staff members can achieve the best of their ability! Alongside being a passionate teacher, I love to spend my personal time playing netball and walking my cocker spaniel Bobby! He is full of energy and keeps me very busy at the weekends. If you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to contact me. |
