About Year 5

Mrs. Ijima, Miss Campbell and Mrs Truman enjoy the support of Miss Doogan, Mrs. Ellis, Miss Cunningham, Mrs. Almond in Year 5.

Year 5 has some very interesting topics like the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings or Earth and Space so it’s fun to teach. We enjoy some great trips, for example Tatton Park and Jodrell Bank. We also have some wonderful school visitors, for example, a planetarium!

Meet your teachers

Mrs Ijima

I have worked in Year 5 for many years and I love teaching here because of all the interesting topics we have which I look forward to exploring with you! Mrs Ellis will be in class to help and support us. I am also the English Leader for the school so if you have any ideas or feedback about the subject (reading, writing and spelling) or any other issues, please let me know.

Being a teacher keeps me very busy but out-of-school I spend a lot of time at gyms and sporting activities with my children (and a bit for me!) and can often be spotted in parks at weekends.

Miss Campbell

I have been working at Great Moor Junior School since 2019, with a short break to complete my teaching qualification. After qualifying, I couldn’t resist coming back to our wonderful school. I have loved working in Year 4 for the last three years but I am incredibly excited to be moving up to teach in Year 5 this year! I am really looking forward to teaching some of the same children I taught in Year 4 and I am equally excited to get to know the children I haven't had the opportunity to teach yet.

I am very eager to watch the children progress and grow this year. Year 5 is packed with so many brilliant topics, and while I absolutely love teaching all subjects, I also have the pleasure of being the Art subject co-ordinator- so I’m hoping our class will be a very creative one! If the children ever have any artwork they have done outside of school, please feel free to bring it in and show me; I would love to see it!

I am looking forward to working alongside Miss Cunningham again.

I hope the children enjoy their time in 5C. If you have any questions or queries, please feel free to contact me.

Mrs Truman

I am delighted to be returning to Year 5 this year and can't wait to begin this exciting new chapter. I'm especially looking forward to teaching some of the wonderful pupils I taught in Year 3, as well as getting to know those I didn't have the opportunity to teach before. I can't wait to build strong relationships with the class, inspire a love of learning, and create a fun, engaging, and supportive classroom where every child can thrive. Here's to a fantastic year ahead!
