All About Year 4

In Year 4, we believe in team work and us all working together as one team which includes every one of the year 4 children! Our staff team includes Miss Macintyre, Miss Campbell, Miss Lofthouse and Mrs Oliver and we are supported by Mrs Morrey, Mrs Almond, Miss Bennett, Miss Cunningham and Mrs Derbyshire. We all work together very hard to ensure that all children make good progress.

During the year, we will study some great and interesting topics such as: Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, Sound, Europe, Animal Habitats, Teeth and Eating. We also hope to have some exciting visitors in to school and to take some trips to intriguing places, including an overnight stay.

We will also study a different class book each half term. These include, 'The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe', 'The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane', 'River Stories', 'The Firework Maker's Daughter', 'Running on the Roof of the World' and 'The Legend of Podkin One-Ear'.

In addition to the set homework, pupils should be reading every evening and regularly practising their spellings and times tables (using TT Rockstars). Some homework is set on Google Classroom. Please check there each week.

Meet your teachers!

Miss Macintyre

Hello, my name is Miss Macintyre.

This is my sixth year teaching Year 4 at Great Moor Junior School and I am very excited to work alongside the other staff in Year 4. My classroom assistant is Miss Bennett.

I look forward to supporting your children to grow in their ability and confidence throughout the year. Year 4 has lots of interesting topics. I love to teach Maths, Geography and History. As History Subject Leader, I love to discuss anything to do with History. I am also taking on a new role of the French teacher this year. My favourite topic is the ancient Greeks and my favourite holiday destination is any of the Greek islands. My sister and I are trying to visit all 227!

Outside of school, I enjoy running, travelling and cooking.

I hope the children thoroughly enjoy their time in year 4.

If you ever have any questions, feel free to send me an email or we are available at the end of the day when we dismiss the children. Also, there will always be an adult on the door in the morning that you can talk to and pass on any messages.

Mrs Wells

Hello, I’m Mrs Wells!

I am very excited to be working in Year 4 after a wonderful couple of years in Year 5.

I am really looking forward to watching my class progress and grow as they settle into Year 4. Our curriculum is packed with so many interesting topics such as the Romans, Ancient Greeks, Mountains and Wallpaper Printing. I absolutely love teaching all subjects but I also have the pleasure of being the Beliefs and Values subject co-ordinator, a subject full of wonder and discussion.

I hope the children thoroughly enjoy their time in 4W and have fun while learning each day.

4OL

Hello and welcome to 4OL!

We are Mrs Oliver & Miss Lofthouse.

We have been working at Great Moor Junior School for over 11 years now and this will be our second year working together as a job-share.

Previously, we have taught in Years 3, 5 and 6 and we are very excited to be back and working together in Year 4 and looking forward to meeting our new class.

We have lots of exciting topics for you including The Romans, Rivers and Design and Technology projects! We hope that you are all ready for a year of working hard as a team, building confidence and of course having lots of fun and laughs along the way.

Although being a teachers and mothers keeps us very busy out-of-school, we enjoy baking, reading books to our children and spending time outside: walking or exploring parks.

Miss Lofthouse - I enjoy learning about the world (I spent about a year and a half travelling and working around Australia, Asia and America before moving back to Stockport). I really enjoy teaching Maths, PE and Science, which I can’t wait to share with you!

Mrs Oliver- When I am not busy at school, I very much enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I am very excited to be in Year 4. My favourite subjects to teach are History, Art and English.
