All About Year 4

In Year 4, we believe in team work and us all working together as one team which includes every one of the year 4 children! Our staff team includes Miss Higson, Miss Campbell, Mr Breckwoldt and Miss Macintyre and we are supported by Mrs Morrey, Mrs Begley, Mrs Holmes and Mrs Almond. We all work together very hard to ensure that all children make good progress.

During the year, we will study some great and interesting topics such as: Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, Sound, Europe, Animal Habitats, Teeth and Eating. We also hope to have some exciting visitors in to school and to take some trips to intriguing places, including an overnight stay.

We will also study a different class book each half term. These include, 'The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe', 'The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane' and 'The Iron Man'.

Miss Higson

4HC

Hello, I'm Miss Higson.

I have been teaching for a while now, about 16 years. This will be my fourth year at Great Moor Junior School and I love it here!

I'm looking forward to getting started with our new classes in Year 4. I love seeing the progress that all the children make over the year. I have high standards and expectations and we always work hard to meet them whilst making sure we have fun along the way. I am also the deputy headteacher, so on Thursdays and Fridays I will be in school but out of class. Miss Campbell is the other teacher in 4HC and will teach the second half of the week. We always pass information between us and will both know what is happening in our classroom.

If you ever have any questions, feel free to come and see me or one of the team. We are always available after school and there will always be an adult on the door in the morning that you can talk to.

Miss Campbell

Hello, I’m Miss Campbell!

I have been working at Great Moor Junior school since 2019, with a short break to complete my teaching qualification. After qualifying, I couldn’t resist coming back to our wonderful school. I am very excited to teach in Y4 for the rest of this year.

I am very eager to watch children progress and grow this year. Year 4 is packed with so many interesting topics such as the Romans, Mountains and Wallpaper Printing. I absolutely love teaching all subjects but I also have the pleasure of being the Art subject co-ordinator so I’m hoping our class will be a very creative one! If the children ever have any artwork they have done outside of school, please feel free to bring it in and show me, I would love to see it.

I am looking forward to working alongside Miss Higson and being supported by Mrs Holmes, Mrs Almond and Mrs Morrey.

I hope the children enjoy their time in 4HC. If you have any questions or queries, please feel free to contact me.

Mr. Breckwoldt

4B

Hello, my name is Mr. Breckwoldt.

I am again with Mrs. Begley who is working alongside me as my Teaching Assistant. We have worked together as a great team for the last few years in Year 3 and in Year 4.

It is a great curriculum in Year 4 with such topics as the Ancient Greeks and Romans; learning about electricity in Science and using that to make nightlights in DT; rivers and mountains in Geography; building on skills in computing (learning about repetition in Scratch and Logo); as well as a great set of books to read in English; lots of challenging and fun Maths; and much more besides.

At present, I am one of the Computing coordinators.

I will be recommencing Code Club in the second half of the autumn term. So if you enjoy Scratch you will love it.

Outside of school, I enjoy reading (fiction and non-fiction). I am still learning the piano and I sing in a choir. Also, I'm an online volunteer for a national charity.
