European Day of Languages 5G

Lesson: Languages

Class: Class 5G Year: 2021 - 2022

On the 26th September, we celebrated European Day of Languages, which aims to promote language learning and linguistic diversity. In Year 5, we learnt about the German language.

We started the day by exploring the history of European languages, then focusing on specific facts about Germany. We looked at Germany in atlases: locating main cities, towns and rivers as well as neighbouring countries and their national flag. After this, we learnt some useful german phrases, which enabled us to have mini conversations. We tried some German foods and finished celebrating our day by singing 'Frozen - Let it Go' in multiple languages (with subtitles of course)!
