P.E. 2021 - 2022
Mr Gill
Welcome to the P.E. webpage
PE lessons are held three times a week and are organised into half-termly blocks. Children learn the skills of both cooperation and competition.
Each year PE lessons include:
- Outdoor games – This half term the children are taking part in Tag Rugby lessons developing a range of different skills and an understanding of rules and tactics. Games covered include football, netball, basketball (Year 5/6), hockey, tennis, athletics, rugby and cricket.
- Educational gymnastics – making up and performing sequences of movements and balances both on the floor and using apparatus.
- Dance – creating and performing dances from different cultures to express ideas and feeling through movement.
- Athletics – developing skills of running, jumping and throwing.
- Swimming – developing swimming skills and confidence in water.
For outdoor games lessons the children should bring trainers, shorts and a t-shirt for warm weather and jogging trousers and a warm top for colder weather. Games lessons will take place in just about all weathers so the correct clothing is essential.
As per council guidance earrings should not be worn for PE. We would advise that these are left at home on PE days.
We also incorporate a range of outdoor and adventurous activities, including rock climbing and orienteering, into the curriculum.
