Welcome to Class 3B

Mr Breckwoldt

I teach in Year 3 and have done so for the last 3 years. I have taught in most Year groups (except Year 4) during my time here. Besides being a class teacher, I am one of the Computing Co-ordinators. I love the subjects we teach.

Education at school is about preparing our pupils for lifelong learning. I love the fact that we in Year 3, the teachers and our great teaching assistants, are at the start of that, especially with Maths and English . At the moment we are reading the popular American story of Flat Stanley, and we are  going to be working on becoming fluent mathematicians. I know all this learning will stay with the children for the rest of their lives. It's also great that we can use modern apps like Minecraft for teaching Design and Technology. This term we will learn all about the local area, including a trip t Lyme Park.

In addition, I am a CAS (Computing at School) Master teacher. In that role I have helped train other teachers in aspects of computing (especially physical computing) and have developed resources for Oxfam.

I also run a Code Club (Robotics and Tinkering too) Club for those in Year 6 who are interested in Computer Science and STEM.This starts after October half term. It was great as we took part in a  VEX robotics competition, competing with high schools. We came second and everyone received a medal.

In my spare time I'm still learning, I'm currently trying to improve my piano playing.
